CMSI 586 Database Design and Database Systems I3 semester hours Fundamentals concepts in the field of database technology. Topics include hierarchical, network, object, object-relational, relational, and XML models; database system structure; semantic data modeling; relational database systems; relational query languages; practical database design methodology; mapping of DB tables to UML class diagrams; DB requirements analysis and traceability; introduction to functional dependencies and normalization through 3NF. Course is designed to meet the needs of Systems Engineering students. Not available for credit to students who have completed CMSI 486 . |
