HHSC 440 Medical Microbiology3 semester hours An overview of the biology of microorganisms, including protists, fungi, bacteria, and viruses with special emphasis on the ecology and features of disease-causing microorganisms; control of microorganism and antibiotics; development and function of the Immune System; Vaccination, Autoimmune diseases, and Hypersensitivities; principals of infectious disease and epidemiology; the pathogenesis and clinical features of a number of infectious diseases, including emerging, re-emerging, tropical and common infectious diseases will be covered. Lecture, 3 hours. Prerequisite of BIOL 201 . Corequisite: HHSC 441 . |
