CMSI 486 Introduction to Database Systems3 semester hours Theory and design of database systems, with emphasis on relational and object-oriented models. Topics include database system structure, semantic data modeling, relational databases, object oriented extensions, formal query languages, integrity and security, physical design of databases, indexing and hashing, and query processing and optimization. Transaction processing, concurrency, and crash recovery are introduced. Lecture, 3 hours. Prerequisite: CMSI 386 . |
