Minor in Mathematics Requirements 

At least 24 semester hours including: 

• MATH 131 Calculus I 4 semester hours
• MATH 132 Calculus II 4 semester hours

• One lower division mathematics course chosen from* 

• MATH 205 Applied Statistics 4 semester hours
• MATH 234 Calculus III 4 semester hours
• MATH 246 Differential Equations and Linear Algebra 4 semester hours
• MATH 249 Introduction to Methods of Proof 4 semester hours
• MATH 251 Applied Linear Algebra 4 semester hours

• Two 4 semester hour mathematics electives at the level of MATH 2xx or higher* 

• One upper division MATH 3xx or MATH 4xx mathematics elective 4 semester hours* 

* By choosing appropriate elective courses a student may focus their minor on applied mathematics, pure mathematics, or mathematics for future teachers. 

Note

Note: A cumulative grade point average of C (2.0) or better is required in the courses included in the Mathematics minor. 

Note: Statistics and Data Science majors can complete a minor in Mathematics subject to the following requirements:

i. The student must fulfill all requirements of the Math minor, and

ii. The student must compelte a minimum of two 4 unit courses of MATH courses for the Math minor, at least one of which must be upper division, that are not counting towards any other program in which the student is enrolled.
