ENVS 263 Surfing and the Ocean Realm3 semester hours Various basic principles of oceanography, meteorology, and marine biology are explored as applied to the art of surfing. Topics include the genesis, propagation, and dynamics of waves; marine weather systems and surf prediction; marine organisms; and marine pollution issues of concern to surfers. Lecture, 3 hours. Prerequisite: MATH 101 or higher, or placement into MATH 106 or higher. University Core fulfilled: Explorations: Nature of Science, Technology, and Mathematics. |
