CMSI 2210 Computer Systems Organization4 semester hours Exploration of computing system operation with a focus on programming at levels with minimal translation between the code and what the computer can access and manipulate directly. Encoding, decoding, and manipulation of bit representations for integers, floating-point numbers, characters, and machine instructions. The C programming language, up to strings, pointers, and arrays. Assembly language, up to calling conventions and the stack. Programming tasks utilizing system calls and other operating system interfaces. Prerequisite: CMSI 2120 LQTR |
