MBAC 630 Business Intelligence Tools and Systems

The course described the role and application of Business Intelligence in the context of organizational strategy, decision making, and operations. It discusses managerial decision making processes along with the scope and applications of various technical tools that can support those processes. Students taking the course will be introduced to the concepts of Data Warehouses, Business Analytics, and Visualization tools and their roles in delivering Business Intelligence to decision makers. It also delves into the issues of data quality and integration, availability, and organization information and other challenges faced by organizations in implementing BI solutions. Students are exposed to the current industry standard BI software and a number of hands-on exercises as well as projects are used to provide the students with first-hand experience in using BI tools for decision making. Prerequisites: MBAA 603 or MBAA 6040 , and MBAA 6090 , and working knowledge of Excel.
