BIOL 523 Scientific Diving

2 semester hours

Introduction to scientific diving, including studies of benthic populations and communities using line and belt transects, plot sampling methods, and fish survey techniques. The design, data collection, and analysis will be from loval submarine coastal habitats. The class will also cover fundamentals of dive physics and physiology, first aid, CPR, oxygen administration, and dive tables.

Requires consent of instructor and basic open water SCUBA certification.
