Only full-time law students may apply for admission into the J.D./MBA Program.
The J.D./MBA Program is designed for the full-time student who wishes to combine their graduate studies in law and business administration. It requires an intensive full-time commitment and superior capability to handle the academic rigors of two equally intensive graduate programs.
All students enrolled in the J.D./MBA Program are required to comply with the requirements of both the Law School and MBA Program with the exception of the GMAT requirement. Please refer to the Loyola Law School Student Handbook and this University Bulletin for clarification on policies governing graduate students.
For the JD degree
In compliance with ABA Standard 302, the Faculty of Loyola Law School, Los Angeles has adopted the following institutional learning outcomes for our J.D. students:
Upon completion of the Juris Doctor program, students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of fundamental rules and standards of substantive and procedural law.
2. American Legal System
Upon completion of the Juris Doctor program, students will understand the structure of the American legal system, including how law is made, changed, and interpreted.
3. Legal Research
Upon completion of the Juris Doctor program, students will be able to conduct effective legal research using a variety of sources, tools, and strategies.
4. Legal Analysis, Reasoning, and Problem-Solving
Upon completion of the Juris Doctor program, students will be able to perform legal analysis by applying relevant law to facts in order to identify, evaluate, and resolve the legal aspects of clients’ problems.
5. Communication
Upon completion of the Juris Doctor program, students will be able to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, both orally and in writing.
6. Professional and Ethical Responsibilities
Upon completion of the Juris Doctor program, students will understand the moral, ethical, and professional responsibilities that guide and govern attorneys.
7. Social Justice
Upon completion of the Juris Doctor program, students will understand a lawyer’s responsibility to society and the law’s role in promoting social justice.
8. Law and Systemic Inequality
Upon completion of the JD program, students will understand the law’s relationship to systemic inequality based on race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, disability, immigration status and/or socioeconomic status.
9. Additional Professional Skills
Upon completion of the Juris Doctor program, students will be able to demonstrate other professional skills needed for competent and ethical participation as a member of the legal profession.
For the MBA
The program learning outcomes are to create leaders who can:
1. Bring an ethical and diverse perspective to their management of organizations, teams, and individuals through a deep understanding of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals) and what it means to lead “business for good” and create societal impact.
2. Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, through creative approaches to managing change, innovation and opportunities emerging on the business landscape. Leaders with this mindset can pivot and understand the importance of strategic agility.
3. Apply financial savvy and “know-how” to ensure that the business can operate profitably while making a triple bottom-line impact.
4. Build a deep understanding of brand, markets, and customers to analyze and apply principles related to the value chain of product and service development from conception to implementation.
5. Utilize advances in technology and operations to impact organizational effectiveness and manage technological change to ensure value creation in the firm.
6. Develop organizational and interpersonal skill sets and competencies to effectively lead people and organizations.
7. Advance their critical thinking skills and abilities and demonstrate strategic and systems thinking for identifying organizational opportunities and solving business challenges.
8. Demonstrate significant advances in communicating and collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders within and across organizations and communities in which they do business.
9. Apply a global perspective to understand and manage opportunities and challenges faced by business in a globally connected world.

Complete and submit the Loyola Marymount University application and pay a $50 non-refundable application fee.

Students enrolled in the J.D./MBA Program plan a specific course of study with the MBA Program and Loyola Law School. 12 units of law coursework will apply to the MBA Program, reducing the MBA requirement to 30 semester hours.
