Note: All upper division Accounting courses must be taken in residence. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 must be earned in the minor area. All minor required courses must be completed in residence. Open to Business Administration majors only. Effective January 1, 2014, accounting students in the state of California are required to have 150 credit hours for CPA licensure, LMU’s B.S. in Accounting degree requires 128 credit hours. Accounting majors are encouraged, but not required, to include 150 semester hours of study in their academic planning process. Their plan might include undertaking minors and/or an additional major/degree or pursuing Master of Science in Accounting or Master of Science in Taxation at LMU or other acceptable graduate programs. Students are encouraged to discuss with the Accounting Department Chair and/or their academic advisor various possible paths to earn the 150 semester hours. The LMU Accounting program has made no determination as to whether meeting California’s licensure requirements is sufficient for licensure in other states. If you wish to become licensed in a state other than California, you will need to check with the Board of Accountancy in the state, as licensure requirements differ.
